Discovering New Artists: One OK Rock

Hidden Gem

Rurouni Kenshin.”
That’s the very first thought that comes to mind whenever I think of this band.

I remember watching Rurouni Kenshin, the Japanese action film based on the manga of the same name. As the credits started rolling, a powerful song came on — “The Beginning.” I was instantly hooked. It wasn’t until later that I realized the song was by One OK Rock, and that they had contributed music to the live-action movie franchise.

Artist: One OK Rock
Origin: Japan

One OK Rock is a Japanese rock band made up of four members:
Takahiro Moriuchi (Taka) – Vocals
Toru Yamashita – Guitar
Ryota Kohama – Bass
Tomoya Kanki – Drums

My favorite album by the band is Eye of the Storm, which features standout tracks like “Stand Out Fit In” and “Change.” The album perfectly showcases their ability to blend emotion with powerful sound.

What I love most about One OK Rock is how they explore different themes in their music — hope, determination, loss, and personal growth, just to name a few. Their songs feel honest and relatable, no matter where you’re listening from.

Have you listened to One OK Rock?
What do you think about their music?
